Box Score CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The Omaha women's soccer team rallied from a 1-0 deficit with two goals in the final seven minutes for a 2-1 win at Northern Iowa on Friday night.
Melanie McCormick tied the match, 1-1, at 83:07 on a header off of a cross from Sarah Nordstrom. It was McCormick's team-leading second goal of the season.
Monica Bosiljevac then notched the game-winner at 85:53, just 2:46 after McCormick's goal. Kerry Pivovar earned the assist on Bosiljevac's first goal of the season. Pivovar played in a cross that was deflected by a UNI defender. Bosiljevac pounced on it and buried the ball in the net for the 2-1 Maverick lead.
Omaha improved to 2-3 on the season and has now won two matches in a row. Northern Iowa fell to 1-4. The Mavs outshot the Panthers 9-7 overall and 6-5 in shots on goal. The Mavs were particularly strong in the second half, posting three shots in the first three minutes after halftime. UNO finished the final 45 minutes with a 6-3 shot advantage over UNI.
UNI had taken the lead in the sixth minute when Larin Gordon scored off of a cross. The Panthers clung to the lead for 78 minutes before the Mavs finally broke through.
Meaghan Clark made four saves to earn the win in net.
Omaha is back at home on Sunday to host Wyoming at 1 p.m. at the UNO Soccer Field. That match is part of a UNO soccer doubleheader, as the men's team hosts Columbia at 11 a.m.
