Final Stats

LINCOLN, Neb.
- The UNO softball team fell 4-0 to No. 19 Nebraska on Wednesday before 362 fans at Bowlin Stadium.

The game was originally scheduled to be played in Omaha on Tuesday but was moved to Lincoln and pushed back a day to play in warmer temperatures and on a dry field. The Mavericks played the game as the home team, batting in the bottom half of each inning.

With the loss, the Mavericks dropped to 22-4 on the season. Three of the four losses have come to ranked opponents. Nebraska improved to 23-6 this year.

Nebraska struck in the top of the third inning when Taylor Edwards sent a drive to the gap in right center to score Gabby Banda from first. Edwards scored two batters later on a blooper down the right field line by Dawna Tyson for a 2-0 lead.

Edwards continued her big day with a solo home run to lead off the top of the fifth inning to make it 3-0 Nebraska. Banda extended the lead to 4-0 with an RBI single to center field to score Tatum Edwards in the top of the sixth inning.

The Mavericks had five hits and left eight runners on base. Allie Mathewson had a double and a single, and Sydney Hames added two singles. Campbell Ditto also singled.

NU's Emily Lockman (9-2) earned the win in the circle. Lockman pitched 4.0 innings and allowed four hits and no runs with three strikeouts and one walk. Tatum Edwards came on in the bottom of the fifth inning to pitch the final 3.0 innings and gave up one hit with six strikeouts and no walks.

Dana Elsasser (13-4) took the loss. The four runs off of her are the most NU has scored against her in four outings. Elsasser finished with three earned runs against her on 11 hits, four walks and no strikeouts.

The Mavericks will play at home for the first time this season when they host South Dakota State on Friday at 3 and 5 p.m. at Westside Field at Westbrook. The series concludes on Saturday at Noon. The Mavs and Jackrabbits were originally scheduled to play in Brookings, S.D., but the series was moved to Omaha because of poor field conditions in Brookings.
