HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Omaha women's tennis team capped its Spring Break trip on Friday, splitting with a 7-0 loss to Kansas before a 6-1 win over Kutztown at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort. The Mavericks are now 4-8 (1-1 Summit League) on the year.

In the morning contest, Kansas won all three matches to capture the doubles point, followed by all six singles matches in straight sets.

In the afternoon match, the Mavericks came out strong, sweeping all three doubles matchups to earn the point. Alex Tran and Tiffany Hottman defeated Hannah Pipkin and Ridhima Borooah, 8-0, at No. 1, followed by a win from Molly Matricardi and Rachel Pierson, 8-1, over Rachel Grula and Tori Zander at No. 2. In the No. 3 position, Jacqueline Baude and Lindsay Weideman put it away with an 8-2 victory over Emily Troast and Cynthia Good.
Singles action saw Matricardi beat Borooah in the No. 1 position (6-3, 6-3), and Tran topped Pipkin at No. 2 (6-0, 6-1). Kutztown's only win came with a close match at No. 3, as Grula defeated Baude by a score of 6-3, 5-7, 10-2.

Pierson continued UNO's winning ways with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 5, and Hottman and Weideman both coasted to wins at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively, by identical scores of 6-0, 6-0.
Omaha returns to action on Friday, March 29, hosting crosstown rival Creighton. The match is set for 2 p.m. at Koch Tennis Center.
