OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha women's tennis team hosted Arkansas-Little Rock on Wednesday afternoon, falling 6-1 at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center. The Mavericks are now 2-1 (0-0 Summit League) on the season, while the Trojans improve to 9-2 with their sixth straight victory.
UALR took the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. At the No. 2 slot, freshmen Molly Matricardi and Tiffany Hottman did not finish their match but led 7-4 when doubles action was called.
In singles play, sophomore Alex Tran captured the Mavericks' only triumph at the No. 1 position, defeating Yana Kakovkina 5-7, 6-3, 10-4. Arkansas-Little Rock claimed the remaining matches to take the 6-1 win.
Omaha returns to action on Saturday, March 2 with a pair of neutral-site matches. The Mavericks face Northern Illinois at Noon and Central Arkansas at 7 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
