LORMAN, Miss. - The Omaha women's basketball team fell at Alcorn State, 50-45, on Sunday in the final game of its two-game road trip.
The loss puts the Mavericks at 0-2 on the young season. Alcorn State improved to 1-1.
The Mavs trailed 32-30 at the half, but in the second half the teams combined for just 33 total points. The Mavs went cold from the field, finishing with 15 points in the second half on 6-of-26 (23.1 percent) shooting and 3-for-8 from the free throw line.
Ericka House led the Mavs with 17 points. Taijhe Kelly had nine points and 10 rebounds. The Mavs shot just 14-of-53 (26.4 percent) from the floor overall.
Tierro Frost had 21 points for Alcorn State to lead all scorers. The Braves struggled from the field as well, shooting 18-of-71 (25.4 percent). However, they had 20 offensive rebounds and outrebounded the Mavs 47-32 for the game.
Omaha plays its home opener on Thursday at the Sapp Fieldhouse against Graceland. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
