Final Stats

OMAHA, Neb. -
Paige Frauendorfer scored 25 points to lead the UNO women's basketball team past North Dakota State, 61-52, Thursday night at the Sapp Fieldhouse.

The Mavericks won their third straight and improved to 14-5 overall and 4-3 in The Summit League, good for fourth place in the conference standings. North Dakota State fell to 7-13 overall and 3-5 in conference play.

Frauendorfer surpassed 1,000 career points with her second basket of the game, a driving layup with 8:33 left in the first half to give the Mavs an 18-13 lead. She finished the night with eight rebounds to go along with her season-high 25 points. She shot 10-of-16 from the floor, including 1-of-1 from 3-point land, and a perfect 4-of-4 at the free throw line.

Jamie Nash, who reached the 1,000-point mark last week, narrowly missed a triple-double with 11 points, 11 assists and nine rebounds. Ericka House came off the bench to spark the Mavs with 13 points, including 3-of-5 shooting from 3-point range.

The Mavs trailed 21-20 with 5:52 left in the first half on a 3-pointer by NDSU's Jamie Van Kirk. But after a timeout, the Mavs scored seven straight to take a 27-21 lead at the 3:05 mark. After NDSU scored to make it 27-23, Stacia Gebers hit a layup and House drilled a triple for a 32-23 halftime lead. The Mavs pushed the lead to 34-23 early in the second half on a layup by Carly Cator, capping a 14-2 run.

NDSU pulled back within five points two separate times but never got closer. Leading 42-36 with 11:21 left, UNO broke the game open with a 10-3 run to make it 52-39 with 4:16 remaining. Frauendorfer started the run with a layup, and after two NDSU free throws, Nash, Frauendorfer and Carolyn Blair-Mobley all hit buckets to make it 50-38. North Dakota State went without a field goal from the 11:21 mark to 3:38 left in the second half, a span of 7:43.

The Mavs shot 48.1 percent (25-of-52) and played stout defense, holding NDSU to 31.3 percent (20-of-62). The Mavs held the edge on the glass, 42-32. Taijhe Kelly had four blocked shots for the Mavs.
