OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha volleyball team completed preparations for the 2012 season on Saturday night, hosting the annual Red/Black Scrimmage at Sapp Fieldhouse before a crowd of 111 fans.
Players switched between both teams over four sets, with Omaha Black winning the match 3-1. Black swept the first three sets -- 25-16, 29-27, 25-12 -- before an additional fourth set, which Omaha Red won 25-20.
Freshman
Kelley Wollak led the way with 22 kills for the day, while senior
Natalie Ebke added 15 kills and 20 digs. Senior
Amy Roberts chipped in 25 digs, while redshirt freshman
Kimberly Bailey had 23. Roberts and Bailey also led the way in serving, as Roberts contributed three service aces and Bailey had two.

Bailey Baxter, who played the entire night as Red's setter, finished with 40 assists, and true freshman
Michaela Schimmer added 17 more assists.
At the net, a pair of newcomers had a solid debut, as freshman
Megan Schmale totaled six blocks, and redshirt freshman
Valerie Hecht put up five more.
UNO makes its season debut next weekend, traveling to the Kristen Dickmann Invitational, Aug. 24-25, in Annapolis, Md. The Mavericks open with Norfolk State at 3 p.m. on Friday, followed by matches on Saturday again Hartford (Noon) and Navy (5 p.m.).
