OMAHA, Neb. -
Brittany Lange, UNO's women's basketball director of operations for the past season, has been promoted to an assistant coach position on Head Coach Chance Lindley's staff.
Lange fills the role formerly held by Elena Lovato, who has left UNO to take the head coaching job at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas, where she served as interim head coach in 2009-10.
Both Lange and Lovato were part of Lindley's staff in 2011-12, as the Mavericks played their first season as a Division I program and finished 15-12.
"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to become an assistant coach on the UNO staff," Lange said. "I would like to thank Coach Lindley and the UNO administration for giving me the opportunity to expand my role with the UNO women's basketball program."
Prior to joining UNO in 2011, Lange served as a graduate assistant coach at St. Edward's in Austin, Texas, during the 2010-11 season. Before St. Edward's, Lange was a student assistant coach at Iowa State during her final two seasons of playing eligibility. After battling nagging injuries throughout her career, Lange spent 2008-10 helping Coach Bill Fennelly and the Cyclones reach the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in 2009 and the NCAA Sweet 16 in 2010. She also served as a strength and conditioning intern for Iowa State in 2010.
A native of Sac City, Iowa, Lange started her collegiate playing career at Creighton in 2005-06, where she played in 15 games. Lange then transferred to Iowa State and redshirted in 2006-07. In her sophomore year in 2007-08, Lange played in 10 games, helping the Cyclones advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2008. She excelled academically, earning the ISU Scholar-Athlete award and a spot on the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
