Results

CRETE, Neb. - Amanda Vorthmann just missed setting a school record in the 5,000 meters but did set a new meet record on the first day of action at the Doane College Relays.

Vorthmann ran a time of 17:35.41 to win the event.  Her time eclipsed the previous meet record set in 1993 by almost 20 seconds.  She was just .66 seconds from tying the school record set by Michelle Ellingson in 2002.

Freshman Mikayla Peck was second in the 5K with a time of 18:49.89, a new personal best.  Kayla Fenske was fourth with a time of 20:04.50, setting her own personal best.  Brittany  Phillips took sixth in a time of 20:54.12, just missing a season best time.

In the 10,000 meters, Kristin Rogers won the event with a personal best time of 39.38.12, almost a full minute faster than her previous best and nearly a minute faster than the second-place finisher.

The second day of the meet begins Saturday at 10 a.m.
