ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- The UNO women's tennis team continued its winning ways on the road, defeating Lindenwood 8-1 on Tuesday afternoon. After sweeping Western Illinois on Monday, the Mavericks are now 2-0 on the week.
The only match dropped on the day was at No. 1 doubles, with freshmen
Rachel Pierson and
Alex Tran battling before falling in the marathon match, 9-7. In the No. 2 slot, the duo of senior
Kelsie Olson and freshman
Jacqueline Baude swept the match, 8-0. Senior
Heather Hottman and junior
Lindsay Weideman also recorded a sweep at No. 3 doubles.
The Mavs dominated singles action, taking all six matches in straight sets. Olson (No. 2) had a hard-fought first set before swiftly handling the second, defeating Mariona Pinole, 7-5, 6-1. Hottman came out swinging in her match, sweeping Shreekja Karki, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
UNO, which owns a three-match win streak, will take to the road again on Wednesday, traveling to Missouri-St. Louis at 4 p.m.
