DES MOINES, IOWA – The UNO women's tennis team had a busy day on Saturday, playing two matches at Roger Knapp Tennis Center. Nebraska Omaha dropped both matches, first falling 7-0 to Gustavus Adolphus, followed by a 5-2 loss to Drake in the evening. The Mavericks are now 1-6 on the year.
MATCH 1 – GUSTAVUS ADOLPHUS 7, NEBRASKA OMAHA 0
In the first match of the day, Gustavus Adolphus swept the doubles point and all six singles matches to deal UNO a 7-0 loss.

Kelsey Bigando dropped their set 8-1 to Annie Mahoney and Mary Roop at No. 3.
The Gusties came out swinging in singles action, sweeping all six matches against the Mavs. At No. 1, Tran fought hard with Erickson, falling 3-6, 3-6. Olson dropped a 0-6, 2-6 decision to Gaard, and Weideman fell just short at the No. 3 spot to Krebsbach, 1-6, 3-6 (10-8).
Pierson battled in a close contest with Roop in the No. 4 slot at 3-6, 5-7. Freshman
Jacqueline Baude started in the No. 5 spot, falling short to Mallory Shellum (3-6, 4-6), and Christy faced off against Sophie Horton with a 2-6, 4-6 finale at No. 6.
MATCH 2 – DRAKE 5, NEBRASKA OMAHA 2
In the nightcap, Drake took a 5-2 win at its home court. The Bulldogs captured the doubles point with two wins at No. 1 and No. 2, as Gabriela Demos and Manca Krizman topped Olson and Tran, 8-2, and Amanda Aragon and Nell Boyd defeated Pierson and Weideman, 8-5. The Mavericks' Baude and senior
Heather Hottman secured a close victory at No. 3, posting a score of 8-6 over Earlynn Lauer and Ali Patterson.
DU took three straight singles matches at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 3 before Tran staged a comeback to defeat Demos, 1-6, 6-2, 10-7, at No. 1. The Bulldogs added another point at No. 6, but Baude closed out the night on a positive note with a win at No. 5 to top Lauer by scores of 6-4, 6-2.
UNO returns to action on Friday, March 16, hosting Northern Colorado at 6 p.m.
