Mavs Top Nebraska Wesleyan, 6-1

OMAHA, NEB. – The UNO men's tennis team topped Nebraska Wesleyan Friday night, 6-1, at Hanscom Tennis Center to improve to 2-3 this season.

In doubles action, sophomores Carlos Ramos Salazar and Anthony Forcucci won 8-6 over Nate Hoppe and Ryan McCarty at No. 1. Junior Peter Greteman and freshman Connor Larson also won their match by a tally of 8-4 over Seth Shimerda and Jordan Barret in the No. 2 spot. In the last doubles match at No. 3, senior Ben Williams and freshman Nathan Greteman finished the sweep, defeating Carey Haefele and Seth Milbum, 8-1.

The Mavs came out strong in singles action, taking all but one match. At No. 1, Ramos Salazar was defeated by Hoppe, 1-6, 4-6. Forcucci fought hard at the No. 2 spot, besting Barret, 6-1, 6-2, while Larson finished the No. 3 match with a 6-1, 6-1 win over McCarty.

Peter Greteman pulled away with the win at No. 4, defeating Shimerda, 6-2, 6-4, while Williams took the win at No. 5 over Haefele, 6-1, 6-3. Andrew Lescelius finished the match at No. 6, besting Cao Nguyen, 6-1, 6-0.

The Mavs return to action Feb. 10 against future conference opponent South Dakota State at Hanscom Tennis Center at 6 p.m.
