OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's tennis team fell to North Dakota on Friday night, 4-3, at Hanscom Tennis Center. The loss dropped the Mavericks to 1-4 on the season. North Dakota improved to 2-5.
Stephanie Petsis beat freshman
Alex Tran 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. In the No. 2 slot, Stephanie Biehn defeated senior
Kelsie Olson 7-5, 6-4. At No. 3, junior
Lindsay Weideman upended Megan Sween, 6-2, 6-2. At No. 4, Sarah Stejskal got past freshman
Rachel Pierson 6-1, 6-3.
Jacqueline Baude took the win for UNO at No. 5 against Mindy Lawrence, 6-0, 6-3.
Caitlin Christy won at No. 6 over Lindsey Viegut, 6-2, 6-4.
In doubles play, Petsis and Biehn earned a 9-7 win over Olson and Tran at No. 1. Sween and Stejskal beat Baude and Pierson at No. 2, 8-4.
Kelsey Bigando and Christy combined to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-4, over Lawrence and Viegut, but the Sioux still took the doubles point.
The Mavs are back at home on March 6 to host Doane outdoors at Koch Tennis Center at 3 p.m.
