The Mavericks had the only hit of an otherwise quiet first three-and-a-half innings, and both teams were scoreless until the bottom of the frame, when TAMUCC brought across a pair of runs. Weiss led off the bottom of the fourth with a double to left, and Porras drew a one-out walk to put two runners on base, with Weiss on third. UNO was then charged with a balk, which allowed Weiss to score the Islanders' first run. Weston Montgomery placed a single down the rightfield line to score Porras, pushing it to 2-0.
In the fifth, Waldron and McCrite began the top of the inning with back-to-back singles, and a sacrifice bunt from sophomore
Beau Suponchick put both runners in scoring position with one out. Mortensen then keyed a single to right, scoring Waldron and putting the Mavs in striking distance. An RBI infield single from Donner scored McCrite, knotting it at 2-2.
With the score locked in a tie, Texas A&M Corpus Christi came to the plate in the bottom of the seventh. Sciantarelli drew a leadoff walk, and Kyle Danford doubled down the leftfield line to put Sciantarelli on third. Marek sent the winning single to center, plating Sciantarelli and giving the Islanders the 3-2 win in the scheduled seven-inning opening contest.

Sciantarelli singled through the right side, and Weiss drew a walk, putting two on for Buckner, who sent an RBI single to center to score Sciantarelli. The Islanders then loaded the bases, Damon reached on a fielder's choice, and Buckner and Weiss scored on a throwing miscue that put the Islanders ahead by three.
The Mavericks put up two runs on four hits and capitalized on an error in the fifth, starting off with Suponchick's single to right. Mortensen later doubled down the left field line to move Suponchick to third, which allowed the sophomore to come in on Hohl's RBI single to right. Palensky then dropped a single into centerfield to plate Mortensen, bringing UNO within one at 3-2.
Texas A&M Corpus Christi added another trio of runs in the fifth, starting with Drew Vest's run on a bases-loaded walk. Danford then singled up the middle, plating both Weiss and Marek to make it 6-2. Senior
Brandon Winkelmann then came in in relief, shutting down any further scores by striking out Damon to end the inning.
The Islanders tacked on one more run in the sixth, when Stafford Brantley worked a walk, advanced on a wild pitch and later scored on an error. It was all TAMUCC needed, as the Islanders limited the Mavericks to just one more hit over the final three innings and took the 7-2 win in the series finale.
