OMAHA, Neb. – Three different players had a goal and an assist to help the Omaha hockey team hang on for a 3-2 win over Alabama-Huntsville on Friday night at the CenturyLink Center.

Ryan Walters, Dominic Zombo and Bryce Aneloski all scored for the Mavs and added an assist as UNO won its fifth straight game.  The Mavericks are now 7-3-1 overall while Alabama-Huntsville fell to 1-11-1.  The series concludes on Saturday night at 7:07 p.m.

The game turned in the second period.  Tied at one, the Mavericks retook the lead at 13:23.  Walters slipped down the left wing and then threw a pass across to Zombo.  He held the puck for a moment, froze goaltender John Griggs and fired a shot inside the near post for his third goal of the year.

Aneloski stretched the lead with an outstanding individual effort.  He carried the puck all the way from his own zone, ducked around a defender and slid the puck through the legs of Griggs to make it 3-1 after two.

UAH closed the gap to 3-2 with a powerplay goal from Frank Misuraca early in the third period, but the Chargers could get no closer.

The Mavericks grabbed the lead just 1:49 into the game.  Zombo found Walters in the slot and his backhand shot sailed under the crossbar for a powerplay goal.

The Chargers tied the game on a fortunate bounce less five minutes later.  Anderson White broke down the left wing and fired a shot that fluttered off the shoulder of goaltender John Faulkner.  It fell in the crease where Graeme Strukoff charged in and knocked it home.

UNO finished with a 33-18 shot advantage.  Faulkner had with 16 saves to improve to 7-0-1 on the year.  The win was the 45th of his UNO career, tying him with Jerad Kaufmann for second all-time in school history.

Walters (4-6-10), Zombo (3-6-9) and Michael Young (1-4-5) have now scored points in four straight games.
