ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Omaha volleyball team opened its final road weekend of the season on Friday, falling 3-0 at Oakland by set scores of 17-25, 18-25, 10-25 at the O'rena. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 6-19 (1-12 Summit League), while the Golden Grizzlies improve to 15-11 (8-6 Summit League).
Senior
Natalie Ebke led the way with 10 kills on .214 hitting, adding eight digs and a block for the night. Ebke now needs just 32 digs to move into UNO's top 10 in school history for career digs leaders.
Freshman
Michaela Schimmer added four kills, nine assists, three digs and a pair of blocks, and redshirt freshman
Valerie Hecht put up three kills and two stops of her own. UNO's leader at the net was freshman
Megan Schmale, who had a team-best three blocks, which helped the Mavericks outblock Oakland, 7-6.
Redshirt freshman
Bailey Baxter narrowly missed a double-double, finishing with nine assists and a team-leading 10 digs.
Oakland had two players with double-double performances: Taylor Humm (12 kills, 14 digs) and Meghan Bray (11 kills, 14 digs). Amanda Baker paced OU's blocking corps with five stops, and Alli Kirk had 10 digs. Alissa valentine chipped in 19 assists, and Ciara Schultz had 16, helping the Golden Grizzlies to a .294 team hitting percentage.
