Final Results
CEDAR FALLS, Iowa - The UNO track and field team set eight more personal bests on the second day of competition at the Jack Jennett Invitational at Northern Iowa.
Along the way, the Mavericks earned two first-place finishes.
Sami Spenner won the triple jump with a personal best mark of 39-10 1/2, nine and a half inches farther than her previous best set at Iowa State in December.
Denneil Shaw earned fifth in the event with her own personal best mark of 36-8 1/4.
Amanda Vorthmann led the field in the 3,000 meters with a personal best time of 10:06.62, almost 13 seconds faster than her previous career best. Teammate
Kristin Rogers was fourth, lowering her personal best to 10:46.52. Mikayla Peck was eighth at 11:33.30, also a personal best.
Vorthmann also took seventh in the 800 meters, running the event for the first time this year in a time of 2:20.85, a personal best.
Lydia Martin posted a personal best mark of 2:28.24, good for 13th place.
UNO had a 2-3 finish in the long jump.
Kathie-Lee Laidley finished second with a leap of 18-7, just ahead of Shaw who was third at 17-5 1/4.
The Mavericks also got a 3-4 finish in the 1,000 meters.
Nicole Behm was third in a time of 3:15.24, edging out Rogers who posted another PR with a time of 3:18.90.
UNO returns to action at the Varsity Apartments Invite at Wichita State on Feb. 3 and 4.
