Katie Pickinpaugh's two goals sparked the UNO women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Central Oklahoma Friday night in the Mavs' first game of the UNO Invitational.
Pickinpaugh headed home a cross from
Hilary Jackson in the 52nd minute to break the scoreless deadlock. Then, in the 72nd minute, Pickinpaugh weaved her way through Broncho defenders before ripping a 20-yard shot into the upper left corner of the goal for a 2-0 Maverick lead.
The Mavs (2-1) dominated play throughout the game but could not break through until Pickinpaugh's finishes. UNO finished with an 8-2 advantage in shots on goal and 15-5 overall. The Mavs also earned 10 corner kicks to the Bronchos' two.

Katelyn Tschida earned two saves in the first full shutout of her career.
UNO has now won two straight after dropping its season opener. In the past two games, the Mavs have earned a total of 22 corner kicks to just four for their opponents.
The Mavs will play Midwestern State on Sunday at 1 p.m., at the UNO Soccer Field to close the UNO Invitational. Earlier on Friday, Midwestern State defeated Truman, 2-1. Truman and Central Oklahoma will play on Sunday at 11 a.m.
