OMAHA, Neb. -- UNO baseball player Caleb Palensky was named to the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League's 2011 All-GLSCL First Team, the organization has announced.

Palensky, who was the 2011 MIAA Freshman of the Year, has led his summer club, the Xenia Scouts, with a .374 batting average. He has team-best totals in doubles (12), runs scored (32) and walks (20) and also has 25 runs batted in to his credit. Palensky ranks third in the league in hitting, and his 32 runs and 12 doubles are second and third, respectively, among any GLL player. The Papillion-LaVista South product was also honored as a GLSCL South All-Star Team selection this summer.

Based out of Xenia, Ohio, the Scouts have a 23-19 record through the regular season and finished third in the South Division of the Great Lakes League. Xenia is in the midst of playoff action, as the Scouts opened with a 10-0 win over the Hamilton Joes on Aug. 2, aided by a two-run single by Palensky.
