OMAHA, Neb. -- The UNO women's tennis team dropped a match Monday afternoon to cross-town opponent Creighton, as the Bluejays swept the Mavericks, 9-0.
In doubles action, juniors Heather Hottman and Samantha Thomas fell short in an 8-1 loss to CU's Anna Kirshenbaum and Analese Snyder. At the No. 2 line, junior Traci Moklestad and sophomore Amanda Henkel were bested by Kelsey Schmidt and Mary McMullan, 8-2. In No. 3 doubles, freshman Jessica Hottman and junior Caitlin Christy lost their match 8-3 to Leesa Cadwallader and Sarah Cadwallader.
On the singles side, the Bluejays came out swinging, posting six wins. Creighton captured every singles match in straight sets and took the overall win, 9-0.
UNO returns to the court on Wednesday, March 23, to compete against Division I foe Drake of the Missouri Valley Conference. The match is slated for 4 p.m. in Des Moines, Iowa.
