SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The No. 23 UNO softball team split the final two games of the MIAA Crossover North on Sunday, dropping a 5-1 decision to Emporia State, then beating Lincoln in five innings, 9-0.
The Mavericks finished the weekend with a 5-1 record to improve to 19-5 on the year.
Emporia State's Karley Schmelzer limited the Mavs to just two hits in the morning game.
Sara Elliott hit a home run in the third inning for the Mavs' lone run. The Lady Hornets put up three runs in the top of the first inning and added two more in the top of the fifth for the final outcome.
In the afternoon win over Lincoln, the Mavs scored in the bottom of the first to take the lead, then added two more in the third and six in the fourth.

Katelyn Hinton# led the way with a 3-for-3 performance at the plate, two home runs and a double, three runs scored and three RBI. Hinton's first homer was a solo shot in the third, and she added a two-run blast in the fourth. #
Molly Feichtinger and Lauren Larson# each added two hits, as UNO's first three hitters went a combined 7-for-9 with five runs scored.

Dana Elsasser# picked up the win, allowing only three hits and striking out five.
The Mavericks play their home opener this Wednesday in a doubleheader against Upper Iowa at 2 p.m., at Claussen-Westgate Field.
