JOPLIN, Mo. - The UNO women's basketball team dropped its final road game of the season in a 72-57 loss at Missouri Southern on Wednesday night.
UNO fell to 7-18 overall and 4-17 in the MIAA. Missouri Southern improved to 16-9 overall and 14-7 in MIAA action.
The Mavericks trailed by as many as 14 in the first half, but fought back to stake a three-point lead midway through the second half. However, Missouri Southern scored 32 points in the final 13:09 of the game while holding UNO to just 14 points in that stretch to claim the victory.

Heather Pohl# led UNO with 18 points. Afton Baldwin had 20 points for the Lions to lead all scorers.
The Mavs trailed 30-16 with 7:25 left in the first half, but closed the half on a 14-4 run to get within four, 34-30, at the break. #

Jessica Zaruba# forced a steal and finished the layup at the other end for UNO's first lead of the game. Nash made a layup with 13:43 left to cap a 7-0 UNO spurt and give the Mavs a 43-40 lead.
But the Lions answered with an 11-2 run of their own to make it 51-45. Missouri Southern pushed the lead to 61-49 after seven straight points by Jasmine Lovejoy, while holding UNO without a field goal for a span of 6:47.
