Final Results
AMES, Iowa – The UNO Track and Field team opened the season at the Cyclone Holiday Preview hosted by Iowa State. The Mavericks came away with two first place finishes at the Lied Recreation Center.
Amanda Vorthmann went the distance in the 3,000 meter run, earning the top spot with a time of 10:19.30. She edged out Truman State's Karen Grauel by just over one second.
In the field,
Sami Spenner earned the top spot in the triple jump with a personal best mark of 39 feet, one inch. Spenner also set a personal record with her 18 feet, 4 ½ inch distance in the long jump. She finished second in the long jump, missing the top spot by just over one inch.
This was the only meet for the Mavericks before the New Year, so the next time the track and field time will see action is on the 13th and 14th of January at the Holiday Inn Invitational at Nebraska.
