The UNO women's soccer program has announced the dates for the restructured 2012 UNO Women's Soccer Camps.
The traditional Day Camp 1 will take place June 11-12, and Day Camp 2 will take place July 12-13. These camps are for children ages 6-13, and both run from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., a change in time from previous years to better accommodate parents.
This year, UNO is also featuring new specialized camps. A Striker and Goalkeeper Camp will occur June 11-14 from 7-9 p.m. each night. That camp is available to players ages 12-18.
Finally, the overnight Elite Camp for players ages 12-18 will run from July 8-10.
UNO women's soccer head coach
Don Klosterman and assistant coach Ted Anderson will lead the teaching at the camps. Klosterman and Anderson are the only two coaches in the state of Nebraska to own an NCAA soccer national title, as both led UNO to the 2005 Division II national championship.
Klosterman holds a United States Soccer Federation A License and an NSCAA Advanced National License and is a two-time national coach of the year. Anderson earned a Master Coach Diploma in 2010, which is regarded as the longest and most labor intensive coaching course in the United States. Anderson and Klosterman make up the longest tenured collegiate coaching staff in the state of Nebraska, and together the two have led UNO to four Final Fours in their 13 years together.
Thousands have attended the UNO Women's Soccer Camp in past years, but this year's camps will put more focus on learning the game of soccer and the technical skills needed to be a better player.
