OMAHA, Neb. -- The UNO women's basketball team fell to Missouri Southern, 76-66, on Saturday at the Sapp Fieldhouse.
UNO dropped to 5-9 overall and 2-8 in the MIAA. The Lions improved to 9-5 overall and 7-3 in the MIAA.

Heather Pohl led the Mavs with 22 points. Paige Frauendorfer added 13 points and Jessica Zaruba# scored nine.
The Lions broke down the Mavs' zone defense with hot shooting from behind the arc in the first half. The Lions hit 7-of-17 from behind the arc and turned a 21-19 lead into a 36-25 lead by the 3:16 mark.
Kelby Fritz led the charge for the Lions with 13 points in the first half. Afton Baldwin came off the bench and nailed three first half 3-pointers and finished the half with 10 points. Fritz and Baldwin stepped up in place of the Lions' leading scorer, Jasmine Lovejoy, who picked up two fouls in the first 55 seconds of the game and sat out the rest of the half.
The shooting story was just the opposite for UNO. The Mavs went 0-for-7 on 3-pointers in the first half, but made 12-of-14 free throws to remain close at the half, down 38-30. Frauendrofer and Pohl had seven points in the half to lead UNO.
Missouri Southern extended the lead to 14 at 44-30 at the beginning of the second half. Zaruba scored five straight points to cut the lead back to single-digits, 44-35.
Pohl hit the first 3-pointer of the game for UNO at the 14:39 mark of the second half to pull within 50-40, but Fritz responded with her fourth 3-pointer of the game, as the Lions maintained a double-digit lead up until the 7:23 mark, when Pohl hit a free throw to cut the lead to 62-53.

Fritz finished with a career-high 20 points. Baldwin matched her career-high of 18, and Erin Rice added 15 for Missouri Southern.
UNO travels to Pittsburg, Kan., on Wednesday for a 5:30 p.m. game against Pittsburg State.
