OMAHA, Neb. – The UNO soccer team improved its record to 4-4-1 on the season with a 3-0 shutout of Northwest Missouri State on Thursday afternoon at UNO Soccer Field. 

Two Mavericks picked up their first goals of the season.  In the 16th minute, freshman defender #Jordyn Braun# scored her first goal of the season, tipping in a corner pass from Hilary Horvatic.  The goal earned Horvatic her team-leading third assist of the season.

At 36:15, sophomore forward #Bri Exstrom# doubled UNO's lead with her third goal of the season.  She took a pass from #Hayley Renshaw# and headed it in off the crossbar.

The Mavs stretched their lead in the 54th minute when junior defender #Maggie Olson# notched her first score of the season.  She converted a pass from #Megan Kingston# at 53:19.

Senior goalkeeper #Lauren Fox and freshman Katelyn Tschida# split the shutout with each playing 45 minutes.  Fox stopped the Bearcats' only shot on goal.

The Mavericks outshot Northwest, 9-1 and led the corner kick battle, 12-1. The win improves UNO to 4-2-1 in MIAA action. The Bearcats drop to 1-5-1in conference play.

The Mavericks will be at home again on Thursday, Oct. 7 when they host Emporia State at 4 p.m.
