Mavs Open 2010 MIAA Baseball Championship Against

Weekly Notes

The No. 30 Nebraska-Omaha baseball team will take part in the 2010 MIAA Baseball Championship in Kansas City, Mo., on May 6-9. The Mavericks won the tournament last season as the fourth seed. UNO earned the No. 3 seed this season and will begin its title defense when it opens against the No. 4 seed Fort Hays State University Tigers (30-20, 22-18 MIAA) in the nightcap game on Thursday, May 6 at 7 p.m. at CommunityAmerica Ballpark.

The tournament is double elimination format, so regardless of what happens on Thursday, UNO will at least play one more game on Friday, May 7. If the Mavs win on Thursday, they will play again at 7 p.m. in the night game. A loss on Thursday would put the Mavs in the middle game at 3 p.m. The winner of the tournament will earn an automatic bid into the NCAA Division II South Central Region tournament on May 13-16 at a site to be determined.
