WICHITA FALLS, Texas - All three Maverick pitchers gave up runs and the UNO offense scored just once off five hits in a 9-1 loss to fifth-ranked Midwestern State in the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday. The 21st-ranked Mavericks dropped to Sunday's 11 a.m. elimination final against West Texas A&M. The winner of that game will advance to play MSU at 1:30 p.m. and must beat the host Mustangs twice.

Starter #Melissa Negrete allowed three runs off four hits before recording an out in the first inning. Lindsey Slocum then allowed four runs over the first three innings and Beth Haley# closed out the game, allowing two runs in the final two innings. The Mustangs finished with 11 hits as they envoked the run rule after five innings.

Already down 7-0 in the fourth inning, the Mavs (50-12) put together their best threat. With two on, #Emma Wright singled to drive in Julia Krejci#. #Alli Hukill# then struck out swinging to end the inning.

West Texas A&M beat St. Mary's (Texas), 5-0 in an elimination game Saturday to advance to play UNO Sunday.
