TOPEKA, Kan. - The Mavericks scored three runs off four hits in the third inning Tuesday to defeat Washburn, 4-0. The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out and no makeup date has been scheduled yet.

The Mavs improved to 21-9 overall and 5-2 in the MIAA with the win. They'll return to action Thursday in a doubleheader at Upper Iowa at 2 p.m.

#Alli Hukill drove in the first run in the third off an RBI single. Treightin Yates#, who went 3 for 4 in the game, then singled to drive in Hukill. #Julia Krejci# then drove in Yates with a single.

Krejci then drove in Hukill in the seventh off a sacrifice fly. Hukill went 2 for 3 with the two runs scored.

#Beth Haley# improved to 8-3 with the win. She went the full seven innings and allowed just three hits to Washburn (16-14, 3-4 MIAA). She struck out two and walked none.
