Lindsey Slocum# hit a walk-off, game-winning home run in game one and then pitched a one-run victory as the Mavericks swept Wayne State (Neb.) Tuesday afternoon at Claussen-Westgate Field. Nebraska-Omaha took the opener, 2-1 and then took game two, 8-1.
The Mavericks extended their winning streak to 16 straight games and improved to 36-9. The Wildcats fell to 27-9.
Held scoreless through six innings and down 1-0, #
Kristin Wellwood led off the seventh inning with a single down the left field line. She advanced to second on a throwing error and then was replaced on the bases by Lindsay Redding#. Slocum then hit the first pitch of her at-bat over the right field fence to end the game.

Beth Haley# got herself into a first inning jam but escaped allowing just one run. She gave up three hits and committed an error as the Wildcats managed the run. She ended the inning with the bases loaded, throwing out a runner at home on a grounder back to the circle and then striking out the final batter.

Molly Feichtinger# drew a walk in the bottom of the first but Wayne State pitcher Katie Goetzinger got out of the inning. Both pitchers were perfect for five straight half innings after that and the game saw eight total 1-2-3 innings. After WSC scored its run in the first, Haley retired 13 straight Wildcat batters.
Haley improved to 15-2 as she allowed four hits and the one run. She struck out five and walked one.
Goetzinger was just as masterful until the final inning. She allowed five hits with four strikeouts and a walk.
Slocum then took the circle in the second game, allowing seven hits and an unearned run. She struck out six with a walk and improved to 13-2. She also helped her cause at the plate with an RBI and run scored as part of a three-run first for the Mavs. #
Kristi Meneely#'s single drove in Slocum and Wellwood.
Wellwood drove in a run in the fifth off a single and then the Mavs got four more in the sixth. #
Alli Hukill hit an RBI double and Treightin Yates drove in two with a double to left-center field. Julia Krejci# later drove in Yates with a sacrifice fly.
Feichtinger went 3 for 4 in game two and 5 for 6 on the day after getting two of UNO's hits in the opener.
