Alyssa Green# had her first double-double of the year as the Mavs knocked off Pittsburg State, 66-60 Wednesday evening at Sapp Fieldhouse. The Mavericks were down by five at halftime and then they out-scored the Gorillas by 11 in the second half for the win.
UNO improved to 10-7 on the year and 5-5 in the MIAA. Pittsburg State, No. 2 in the MIAA, fell to 9-8 overall and 7-3 in the conference.
Green had 19 points and 11 rebounds. She shot 5 of 10 from the field and added six assists and two steals. The double-double was the third of her career after having two as a sophomore.

Jamie Nash also went 5 for 10 from the field for 15 points and she had a team-high five steals. Ashley Nelson# led the Mavs with nine rebounds.
UNO erased the five-point halftime deficit in the first three minutes out of the locker room after Green stole the ball from PSU's Nicole McCombs and fed it to Nash for a fast break lay-up. That gave the Mavs a 40-38 lead at the 16:50 mark.
The Gorillas took one more lead after that but a lay-up by Nash at 14:25 gave UNO the lead for good. That basket also began a 9-0 run for UNO that was capped by a 3-pointer from #
Paige Frauendorfer# that put the Mavs up by eight, their biggest lead of the half.
The Gorillas were within two points at the five-minute mark but free throws from Green and Nelson put UNO back up by six. Pittsburg State later missed its last three field goals to help the Mavs.
The Mavericks shot 38 percent as a team and held the Gorillas to a 33 percent effort. Each team had trouble controlling the basketball. The Mavs had 28 turnovers while PSU had 26. Each team had 12 steals.
The first half saw two big swings. UNO built a nine-point lead in the first 10 minutes. The Gorillas then out-scored UNO, 22-8 the rest of the way to lead, 35-30 at halftime.
McCombs led the Gorillas with 17 points. She was 7 of 8 from the field and she added three 3-pointers.
The Mavericks will start the second half of the MIAA season at No. 15 Washburn Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
