Mavs Stay Perfect In MIAA Play

JOPLIN, Mo. - Sophomore Hilary Horvatic scored her first goal of the year late in the first half to lead the Mavericks to their fourth-straight win over Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival Missouri Southern 2-0 Saturday afternoon at Hal Bodon Field.

Horvatic's goal came from a corner kick feed from Jerica Kuncl at 37:33 of the first half.

UNO (5-3, 4-0 MIAA) and MSSU (2-6, 0-4 MIAA) battled nearly an entire half until senior #Jessica Powers# netted an insurance goal for the Mavs at 79:09 of the second half. #Nicole Baier# had the assist on the goal.

Junior goalkeeper #Lauren Fox# recorded her second-consecutive shut out and is now 3-0 on the year in net for the Mavs. She had two saves in the match. 

The win marks 11-year head coach Don Klosterman's 175th career victory at UNO. His record now stands at 175-42-7 (.797) as the only soccer coach in UNO history.

The UNO defense allowed just six shots in the match.

The Mavericks will be back in action Saturday, Sept. 26 when they travel to Kirksville, Mo., to battle the Truman Bulldogs. Kickoff is scheduled for noon at the Truman Soccer Pitch.
