OMAHA, Neb. - The Maverick women came one point short of a win in a 5-4 loss against Washburn Friday afternoon at Koch Tennis Center. The men were swept, 9-0 by the Ichabods as both squads resumed MIAA play.
The UNO women' fell to 7-7 and 3-1 in the MIAA while the men dropped to 4-5 and 0-2.
Traci Moklestad and
Rachel Faulk won at No. 1 doubles and
Kelsey Haas and
Mary Lausten won at No. 2 doubles to give UNO a 2-1 lead before singles started.
The Lady Blues the won Nos. 1 through 3 singles matches while
Heather Hottman got UNO a win at No. 4 and
Kelsie Olson won at No. 5. WU won at No. 6 to clinch the dual.
The men were swept in doubles play and then were dropped in straight sets in singles action.
Both teams were to host Emporia State Saturday but wet weather has changed those plans. The duals will be made up April 18 at 1 p.m. at Koch Tennis Center. The women will now stay home and host Division I Iowa State Wednesday at 5 p.m. and then both team will resume MIAA play at Truman, April 11 at 10 a.m.
