WAYNE, Neb. - The Mavericks dropped a pair of non-conference games as they were swept in a doubleheader at Wayne State Tuesday, 1-0 and 9-3.
The losses droped the 22nd-ranked Mavericks to 32-9 as they prepare to host Missouri Western Friday at 3 p.m. at Claussen-Westgate Field.
Nebraska-Omaha pitcher
Melissa Negrete gave up a run to the Wildcats in the fifth inning of game one. She allowed just five hits and two walks but UNO was not able to plate a run.
Kristi Meneely was 3 for 3 in the game and
Lindsey Slocum was 2 for 3.
In the second game Slocum allowed five runs to start the first inning. She retired just one batter before being pulled from the circle and she suffered her first loss of the year.
Jenna Dell and
Amanda Bader hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning but WSC matched those two runs in the bottom of the inning.
Katelyn Hinton homered to lead off the seventh with UNO down by seven, but that was all the rally the Mavs could come up with as they were swept in a doubleheader for the first time this year.
