JOPLIN, Mo. - The Mavericks' three starting pitchers each got wins as Nebraska-Omaha went 3-0 to start the weekend at a tournament at Missouri Southern. UNO beat Northwest Missouri, 8-3 in the opener then beat Drury, 2-1 in nine innings and Oklahoma State, 2-1 to finish the day.

Treightin Yates and Alli Hukill each went 3 for 4 in the opener against NWMSU. The score was tied, 3-3 until the Mavericks scored five runs in the top of the seventh.Katelyn Hinton had a two-run single and Hukill had a triple to drive in a run.

Beth Haley started for UNO and gave up three runs off nine hits with seven strikeouts.

Lindsey Slocum singled through the left side to drive in Ashley Lynch in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Mavericks a 2-1 win over Drury.

Slocum hit a home run in the fourth inning to put UNO up, 1-0 in the fourth and then the Panthers tied the score on an error during a stolen base attempt in the sixth inning.

Melissa Negrete pitched the entire game for UNO giving up the unearned run in the sixth and allowing three hits with eight strikeouts and two walks.

The Mavericks allowed a run in the first inning to Oklahoma City and they didn't get on the scoreboard until the sixth inning when Slocum scored on an error to tie the game and then Lynch drove in a run on a single to take the lead.

Lyndsey Slocum pitched the entire game and allowed one hit and one run with nine strikeouts.

The UNO pitchers allowed just three earned runs with 13 hits and 24 strikeouts. They combined for a 0.91 ERA.
