ORLANDO, Fla. - The Mavericks went into extra innings for the third straight game and fell, 4-3 to Augustana (S.D.) Saturday in their final day at the Rebel Spring Games before they closed out the week with an 8-0 win against Wayne State (Mich.) in six innings.
UNO is now 20-5 and will host its home-opener Wednesday at 2 p.m. against Wayne State (Neb.) after playing its first 25 games away from home.
Jenna Dell had a solo home run in the top of the second that gave UNO a 2-1 lead over AC. The Vikings tied the score in the bottom of the inning and they remained scoreless until both teams scored a run in the eighth. Augustana scored in the bottom of the ninth off an error for the win, handing
Beth Haley the loss for UNO.
Against Wayne State Dell hit another homer, this time a two-run shot in the first inning.
Treightin Yates was 2 for 4 with a double and
Amanda Bader was 2 for 2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Lindsey Slocum got the win in the circle and struck out six.
The Mavericks went 6-2 in the Rebel Spring Games, their final multi-team tournament of the regular season.
