ORLANDO, Fla. - Melissa Negrete struck out 10 batters as the Mavericks defeated Southwest Minnesota State, 1-0 in the second game Wednesday at the Rebel Spring Games. The Mavs lost the opener, 4-3 against Adelphi.

Nebraska-Omaha (15-4), now ranked 19th in this week's NFCA national poll, will continue action Thursday with a game at 12 p.m. Central against Minnesota Duluth and then another at 2 p.m. against SMSU.

Negrete struck out a season-high 10 Mustangs as she improved to 6-2. She allowed just one hit and she got all the backing she needed on Jenna Dell's first home run of the year, a solo shot in the fourth inning.

Against Adelphi, UNO scored twice in the second inning on a sacrifice fly from Ashley Lynch and then on an error but the Panthers answered with four in the fourth inning. Amanda Bader drove in a run with a sacrifice in the sixth, but it wasn't enough.

Beth Haley suffered the loss in the circle as she fell to 5-2.
