JOPLIN, Mo. - The UNO women's basketball won its season-high sixth straight game, beating the Missouri Southern State University Lions, 68-57, on Wednesday night at the Leggett and Platt Athletic Center. #
Amanda Brodsack# led the way with 24 points and nine rebounds as the Mavericks improved to 15-10 and 11-8 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
UNO is hitting its stride at the right time with the MIAA tournament looming next week. In addition to the six straight wins, the Mavericks have won eight of their last nine games.

Alyssa Green added 15 points for the Mavericks while LaToya Wright# had nine points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Lions started quickly, taking an early nine-point lead. When Michelle Hedgecock converted a layup with 11:11 to go in the firs half, Missouri Southern led 18-9.
The Mavericks regrouped and put together a 10-0 run late in the half led by Green who pumped in seven to put UNO up 31-23 at the break.
The assault continued in the second half, this time with Brodsack leading the charge. Her three-pointer with 11:48 to go put the Mavericks up 50-32, the Mavericks' largest lead of the game.
The Lions wouldn't seriously threaten the Mavericks the rest of the way, never closing the deficit to single digits. Myosha Barnes led Missouri Southern with 20 points while Nichole Helfrich had 10.
The win avenges UNO's worst loss of the season. The Lions beat the Mavericks 72-40 back on Jan. 17.
UNO will finish the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 28 when they host the Pittsburg State Gorillas at Sapp Fieldhouse. Game time is 1:30 p.m. The Mavericks will honor their six seniors prior to the game. Fans are also encouraged to wear pink in support of breast cancer awareness.
