OMAHA, Neb.- The Mavericks led by as much as 16 points in the second half and held off a strong comeback attempt by Fort Hays State for a 68-62 win Saturday afternoon at Sapp Fieldhouse.
Nebraska-Omaha improved to 4-3 and 1-1 in the MIAA while the Tigers fell to 6-1 and 0-1 in the conference.
Alyssa Green led UNO with 19 points with six field goals and a 6-of-7 performance from the free throw line.
Heather Pohl had 11 points. The Mavs shot 41 percent as a team while FHSU was 37 percent.
Jessica Zaruba led UNO with seven rebounds but FHSU edged UNO with a 39-38 advantage on rebounds.
The Mavericks will continue action Tuesday at 12:30 p.m. against York at Sapp Fieldhouse.
