Mavs Come Up Short Against Texas A&M-Kingsville

WARRENSBURG, Mo. - The Mavericks got within four points in the final five minutes Saturday but came up short in a 71-66 loss against Texas A&M-Kingsville in the final day of the Central Missouri Jennies Classic.

Heather Pohl led UNO with 14 points off three 3-pointers and Alyssa Green added 12 points. Kiley Herold and Jessica Zaruba came off the bench to score 10 points each.

Kiley Herold hit a pair of free throws at 4:48 of the second half to bring the Mavericks within four points of the Javelinas. TAMUK scored four straight points after that and UNO missed its final five shots, all 3-pointers.

The Mavericks scored the first seven points of the game but the Javelinas gained control at the 10:59 mark of the first half and held it from then on.

UNO shot 37 percent in the game while TAMUK shot 43 percent. UNO out-rebouned the Javelinas, 44-32.
