Nicole Baier# led the University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team's offensive surge with a pair of goals and two assists to help the Mavs cruise past Emporia State 5-0 Thursday afternoon for their ninth-straight win at home. UNO improves to 8-4-0 and 7-1-0 in the MIAA. The Hornets fall to 1-8-1 and 1-6-0 in MIAA play.

Jerica Kuncl started the scoring attack with a goal in the 18th minute. It was her fifth goal of the year and second game winner. Baier and Jessica Powers# assisted on the goal.
Baier continued the scoring attack in the second half with goals in the 47th and 59th minute of play. She blew her first goal over the head of ESU goalkeeper Nikki Schmitz from a pass from Powers. In her second goal, Baier bumped a header shot from a Powers feed into the top left corner of the net for her team-leading ninth goal of the year. It is her fourth multi-goal game and second multi-assist game of the year.
Powers kept the attack going with a goal in the 68th minute off a pass from Baier from the right side of the goal box. She finished with a goal and three assists in the game. With her three helpers, Powers becomes the 11th Maverick in school history to reach the mark in a single game.

Nicole Cunningham scored her first career goal in the 85th minute of the second half on a cross-pass from Hilary Horvatic#.

Lauren Fox got the win in goal and improved to 6-1 on the year. She made four saves and split the shutout with Elizabeth Odorisio#. Fox leads the team with 3.6 shutouts and has allowed a stingy three goals in the last eight matches.
The UNO defense allowed a season-low five shots to the Hornets. They have yielded opponents to just 18 shots in the last three games. The Mavs outshot the Hornets 22-5 and put 11of them on goal.
UNO will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 11 when it hosts Washburn at 1 p.m.
