OMAHA, Neb. - Senior defender #
Megan Jensen# scored her first goal of the season to help lead the University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team to a 1-0 win on Senior Day over Missouri Southern on a rainy Thursday afternoon at Morrison Stadium on the campus of Creighton University.
Jensen blasted a free kick from the right side of the field deep in Lions territory that took a Maverick bounce past MSSU goalkeeper Randi Russell and into the back of the net in the 24th minute.
The goal was Jensen's first since Oct. 4, 2008 when she netted her first career goal against Northwest Missouri State.
With the win, UNO improves to 13-4-1 overall and 12-1-1 in
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play. The loss drops the Lions 4-13-0 overall and 2-11-0 in the MIAA. The Mavs are unbeaten in their last nine games and are 8-0 at home on the year.
UNO fired 11 shots in each period and outshot MSSU, 22-2. The two shots allowed by the Maverick defense is their lowest of the season and lowest total since Nov. 2, 2007 when they held Augustana to one shot in a 2-0 win.
