OMAHA, Neb. - Sophomore forward #Jerica Kuncl# scored her third game-winning goal in as many games to help the Mavericks edge Washburn University 1-0 and pick up their 10th-straight home win Sunday afternoon at the UNO Soccer Field. The UNO defense held the Lady Blues to a season-low three shots in the match.

With the win, UNO improved to 9-4 and 8-1 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association play. The Lady Blues dipped to 6-6 and 3-5 in the MIAA.

Kuncl scored early in the 19th minute when she found an opening in the middle of the net and beat WU goalkeeper Ashley Klone on a pass from #Jessica Powers#. The goal was Kuncl's sixth this season.

UNO outshot WU 20-3 on the day including an 11-1 advantage in the first half.

The three shots surrendered by the Maverick defense is their lowest since holding Missouri Southern to three shots on Sept. 20, 2008 in a 4-1 win.

Junior goalkeeper #Lauren Fox# picked up her team-leading 3.6 shutout of the year and improved to 7-1. She made two saves in the match and saw her goals against average sink to 1.11 on the year. Fox has given up three goals in her last nine matches.

The Mavericks take a road trip to St. Joseph, Mo., to face the Missouri Western Griffons on Thursday, Oct. 15. The match is slated for 7 p.m.
