ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - Senior #Amanda Brodsack# had a career high 24 points and 14 rebounds to lead the UNO women's basketball team to a 73-62 win over Missouri Western on Saturday night.  The Mavericks improve to 5-5 on the year and 2-3 in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

The game was a defensive struggle early in the first half, and it was 12-12 with 12:21 to play when Alyssa Green hit a jumper to even it.  It was part of an 18-3 run by the Mavericks capped off by two Brodsack free throws that put UNO up 25-15 with 8:15 to play.  

UNO led 35-27 at the break as Brodsack threw in 13 points.  

In the second half, the Mavericks would respond to several surges from Missouri Western.  The Griffons got as close as three points on a jumper by Rachel Luteyn with 14:58 to go in the game.  Each time, the Mavericks would make a run of their own and sealed the game at the free throw line in the waning seconds.

For UNO, #Alyssa Green# finished with 15 points including 10 in the second half while #Ellen Majewski# added 11.  Jessica Koch led the Griffons with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

The game was the first road win for the Mavericks this season.

The Mavericks return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 7 when they host the Truman State Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. at Sapp Fieldhouse.
