Pinar Saka and freshman
Rasheema Pitt both posted NCAA provisional qualifying marks Saturday at the Long Beach State Invitational to lead the Mavericks in their final day of competition in California.
Saka finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.29, the fifth-fastest time in Division II this season. The race was won by defending world champion Christine Ohuruogu of Great Britain in 23.02.
Pitt placed seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 38-01.25. Other notable Maverick performances included
Anja Puc, who finished fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 56.67 and Shana Brown, who placed fifth in the long jump (18-02.50).
The Mavericks will compete in the Nebraska Open on Sunday, Apr. 27 in Lincoln.
