KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State forward Jessica Wiegert scored three goals to lead the Bulldogs to a 4-1 victory over the University of Nebraska at Omaha (9-4-0, 7-4-0 MIAA) soccer team Monday afternoon in MIAA action in Kirksville, Mo.

Truman State (12-3-1, 8-3-1 MIAA) opened the scoring just four minutes into the contest when Wiegert got past the Maverick defense for a breakaway and beat sophomore goalkeeper #Lauren Fox# to take the early 1-0 lead.

The Bulldogs wouldn't strike again until the second half when they exploded for three goals in the first 13 minutes of the half, taking a commanding 4-0 advantage.

The Maverick offense, which had outscored its opponents 7-0 in their previous two matches, got on the scoreboard in the 61st minute off a header by senior #Tara Wegehaupt#.

The Truman State defense was able to contain the potent Maverick offense, holding them to just seven shots, three on goal.  

UNO will return home this week with matches against Washburn on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. and Northwest Missouri State on Saturday, Oct. 25.  Kick-off is slated for 1 p.m. with the Bearcats.
