BOLIVAR, Mo. – Junior #Jessica Powers#' first career goal in the 69th minute was all the University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team needed as they defeated Southwest Baptist 1-0 in Bolivar, Mo. on Thursday.

The Bearcats (6-1-0, 5-1-0 MIAA) gave up the only goal of the match, as senior #Casey Bigsby# connected with Powers' on a header off a corner kick.
 
In goal, UNO (6-1-0, 4-1-0 MIAA) got another strong effort from sophomore goalkeeper #Lauren Fox# who turned away five Bearcat shots to record her second straight shutout and fourth overall this season. 

UNO out-shot the Bearcats by an 8-7 margin and also had a commanding 7-2 advantage in corner kicks in a game dictated by strong defensive play.

This makes it two straight contests that the Mavericks have knocked off a team who was previously unbeaten.  Truman State had reeled off eight straight wins last week before falling to UNO by the score of 2-0. 

The Mavericks return to action on Saturday with a road contest at Northwest Missouri State (6-2-1, 2-2-1 MIAA).  Kick-off is set for noon in Maryville, Mo.
