LINCOLN, Neb. --
Pinar Saka won the 400m dash in a school record time and the 4x400 relay team also took first place, highlighting the University of Nebraska at Omaha track team's showing at the Holiday Inn Invitational at the University of Nebraska's Devaney Sports Center.
Three Mavericks finished in the top five of the 400m dash, led by Saka in a time of 53.94 seconds, which beat the old school mark of 54.60 set by Carri Butler in 1996. Saka's time was the fastest in the nation this season.
Kayla Koepke came in fourth at 59.03, followed right behind by
Jessica Purdy in fifth at 59.74.
The trio, along with
Anja Puc registered the fastest time in the 4x400m relay at 3:49.58, nearly a full second ahead of the second place team from Barton County.
Molly Belling took third place in the 200m dash with a time of 25.02 second. Puc finished seventh at 25.47, while Koepke registered a time of 26.71 for 20th.
Ashley Yates took seventh place in the long jump event with a top mark of 35 feet, 8 1/2 inches.
Julia Warnke took 14th with a leap of 34 feet, 1/4 inches.
In the 600yd run,
Jolene Smith and
Lisa Tesarek took 9th and eleventh places, respectively, with times of 1:32.25 and 1:34.98.
Heather Minssen and
Madison Haugland placed in the shot put event. Minssen took 12th with a mark of 39 feet, 7 1/4 inches, while Haugland took 14th at 37 feet, 5 inches.
