Senior pitcher
Cheris Kuster became the fifth Maverick to earn all-North Central Conference honors four straight years, joining three teammates on the 19-player squad announced Friday. The other UNO players named were
Sara Sortino, who earned a third selection,
Leslie Svoboda a second and
Alison Jergenson her first.
Kuster, from Roca, Neb., is UNO's all-time strikeout leader and is 14-6 this year with a 1.70 earned run average with 140 strikeouts.
Svoboda, a sophomore third baseman and UNO's career home run leader, is batting .358 with eight home runs and 36 runs batted in. She has 32 career round-trippers. She also leads the team with 23 stolen bases in 23 attempts.
Junior center fielder Jergenson, from Lincoln, is batting .309 currently with six RBIs and 18 stolen bases.
Sortino, the team's left fielder from Omaha, is batting .300 with 14 RBIs and 10 stolen bases.
Kuster joins Deb Gildersleeve (1984-87), Kathy Gass (1984-87), Amy Boyd (1990-93) and Jenni Upenieks (1994-97) as four-time selections to the all-NCC team from UNO.
