Makinde Leads Mavs After Day One of NCAA Meet

Walnut, Calif.--Nebraska-Omaha's Foluso Makinde earned fourth place in the long jump with a leap of 19-02.75 and earned All-American honors during the first day of the NCAA II National Championships Thursday.

Debbie Akerly sits in seventh place in the women's heptathlon after four events with 2,899 points. Teammate Kalyn Byers is ninth with 2,838.

The three day meet will conclude on Saturday.
